Springs serve as the primary sources of water for meeting household needs in the Himalayas. The vital sources are disappearing at a faster pace throughout the Churia, mid hills and mountain of Nepal. Detrimental impacts of climate change and land use change are spectacular on these natural sources. The drying or declining of spring sources have threatened livelihoods of a significant number of households, reduced economic opportunities, increased burden to women, disturbed the social fabric and increased ecological imbalances. Therefore, spring rejuvenation and springshed* conservation required urgent policy interventions to minimize the impact by recharging the groundwater.
